Option Description
1/320 s
(Auto FP)
Use auto FP high-speed sync with SB-900, SB-800, SB-700, SB-600, and
SB-R200 flash units. If other flash units are used, shutter speed is set to
1
/320 s.
When the camera shows a shutter speed of
1
/320 s in mode P or A, auto FP high-
speed sync will be activated if the actual shutter speed is faster than
1
/320 s.
1/250 s
(Auto FP)
Use auto FP high-speed sync with SB-900, SB-800, SB-700, SB-600, and
SB-R200 flash units. If other flash units are used, shutter speed is set to

/250 s.
When the camera shows a shutter speed of

/250 s in mode P or A, auto FP high-

A Fixing Shutter Speed at the Flash Sync Speed Limit
To fix shutter speed at the sync speed limit in mode S or M, select the next shutter speed after
the slowest possible shutter speed (30 s or bulb).
An X (flash sync indicator) will be displayed
in the control panel and viewfinder.
A Auto FP High-Speed Sync
Allows the flash to be used at the highest shutter speed supported by the camera, making it
possible to choose the maximum aperture for reduced depth of field even when the subject
is backlit in bright sunlight.
The information display flash mode indicator shows “FP” when
auto FP high-speed sync is active (0 278).
