18. TROUBLESHOOTING
18.1 Setting error
If you make a mistake in setting a control item(s),
some functions of this unit may be disabled.
ö Cannot set up display.
Í The demonstration mode is not turned off as
mentioned in <3.4 Setting the demonstration mode>
(page 11).
ö Cannot set up the subwoofer.
ö Cannot set up the low pass lter.
ö No output from the subwoofer.
Í “SUB-W SET” is not set to ON as mentioned in <10.1
Audio controls> (page 27).
ö Cannot set up the subwoofer phase.
Í “LPF SUB-W” is set to “THROUGH” as mentioned in
<10.1 Audio controls> (page 27).
18.2 Operation/wiring error
What might seem to be a malfunction in your unit
may just be the result of a slight operation error or a
wiring error. Before calling for service, rst check the
following table for possible problems.
General
ö The key beep does not sound
Í The Preout jack is in use.
ò The key beep cannot be output from the Preout
jack.
Í “KEY BEEP” is set to “ON” as mentioned in <3.3
Changing the initial settings> (page 11).
ö Sound cannot be heard.
Í Adjust the volume to the optimum level.
Í Check the cords and connections.
Í The connectors are dirty.
ò Clean the connectors. Refer to <Maintenance>
(page 4).
ö The unit does not turn on.
ö Information shown on the display is incorrect.
Í The connectors are dirty.
ò Clean the connectors. Refer to <Maintenance>
(page 4).
Tuner source
ö Radio reception is poor.
Í The car antenna is not extended.
ò Pull the antenna out all the way.
Disc source
ö The specied disc does not play, but another one
plays instead.
Í The specified CD is quite dirty.
ò Clean the CD with reference to <Handling discs>
(page 14).
Í The disc is severely scratched.
ò Try another disc instead.
ö Disc cannot be ejected.
Í The unit is malfunctioning for some reason.
ò Press and hold [G] to forcibly eject the disc. Be
careful not to drop the disc when it is ejected. If
this does not solve the problem, reset the unit.
Audio le source
ö The sound skips when an Audio le is being played.
Í The media is scratched or dirty.
ò Clean the CD with reference to <Handling discs>
(page 14).
Í The recording condition is bad.
ò Play the media again or use another media.
iHeartRadio source
ö Station cannot be selected.
Í If “Explicit Content” in [Account Settings] is checked
in the web version of iHeartRADIO, some stations
become unavailable.
Bluetooth source
ö The hands-free talk volume is low.
Í The hands-free talk volume can be adjusted
independently.
ò Adjust it during hands-free talk. “MIC GAIN” of
<15.4 Changing the Bluetooth detail settings>
(page 37).
ö No beep is heard at reception of an incoming call.
Í No beep is heard depending on the type of your cell-
phone.
ò The “CALL BEEP” of <15.4 Changing the Bluetooth
detail settings> (page 37) is set ON.
ö Voice is not recognized.
Í The vehicle window is open. If the surrounding noise
is large, voice cannot be recognized properly.
ò Close the vehicle windows to reduce noise.
Í Small voice. If voice is too small, it cannot be
recognized properly.
ò Speak into the microphone a little more loudly
and naturally.
ö The sound from the Bluetooth audio player is
discontinuous.
Í Another Bluetooth device is affecting the Bluetooth
communication. Turn off another Bluetooth device.
Move another Bluetooth device away from this unit.
Í Another Bluetooth device or profile is used for
communication. The downloading of the Phone book
disconnects the sound.
18.3 Error messages
The messages shown below indicates your system
condition.
General
ö “PROTECT” (blink)
Í The speaker wire has short-circuited or touched
the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protection
function has been activated.
ò Lay or insulate the speaker cable properly and
press the Reset button. If “PROTECT” does not
disappear, consult your nearest service center.
Disc/ USB/ iPod Messages
ö “COPY PRO”
Í A copy-protected file is played.
ö “iPod ERROR”
Í Connection to the iPod has failed.
ò Remove the iPod/ iPhone and then reconnect it.
ò Reset iPod/ iPhone.
ö “NA DEVICE”
Í An unsupported USB device is connected.
ò Check that the connected USB device is
supported. See <About USB device> (page 15).
Í Connection to the iPod has failed.
ò Check that the connected iPod is supported. See
<About compatible iPod/iPhone> (page 15) for
information on supported iPods.
ö “NA FILE”
Í An Audio file is played in a format that is not
supported by this unit.
ö “NO DEVICE”
Í A USB device is selected as a source although no USB
device is connected.
ò Change the source to any source other than the
USB device. Connect an USB device, and change
the source to the USB device again.
ö “NO MUSIC”
Í The connected USB device contains no playable
audio file.
Í A medium that does not have playable data has been
played.
ö “PLEASE EJECT”
Í The unit is malfunctioning for some reason.
ò Press and hold [G].
ò Press the reset button on the unit. If the “PLEASE
EJECT” code does not disappear, consult your
nearest service center.
ö “READ ERROR”
Í The file system of the connected USB device is
broken.
ò Copy the files and folders for the USB device
again. If “Read Error” is still displayed, initialize the
USB device or use another USB device.
ö “TOC ERROR”
Í The CD is quite dirty. The CD is upside-down. The CD
is scratched a lot.
Í The disc is unreadable.
ö “USB ERROR”
Í Some trouble may have occurred to the connected
USB device.
ò Remove the USB device, then cycle the power
switch to ON. If the same display is repeated, use
another USB device.
HD Radio Messages
ö “iPod FULL”
Í The iPod memory is FULL.
ö “MEMORY FULL”
Í The tag memory of HD Radio tuner and SiriusXM
tuner is FULL.
ö “TAG ERROR”
Í The unit is unable to complete transferring the
tagged information to the iPod.
Bluetooth Messages
ö “AUD DISCONCT”
Í The unit cannot communicate with the Bluetooth
audio player.
ö “DEVICE FULL”
Í 5 Bluetooth device have already been registered. No
more Bluetooth devices are registered.
ö “HF DISCONCT”
Í The unit cannot communicate with the cell-phone.
ö “HF ERROR 68”
Í The unit cannot communicate with the cell-phone.
ò Cycle the power switch. If this message still
appears, press the Reset button on the control
unit.
ö “HF ERROR 89”
Í Update of the firmware has failed.
ò Retry update of the firmware.
ö “NO DATA”
Í There is no call history list.
Í There is no phone book list.
Í Data is not contained in the phone book.
ö “NO ENTRY”
Í The cell-phone has not been registered (pairing).
ö “NO ACTIVE DVC”
Í No cell-phone is connected.
ö “NO NUMBER”
Í The calling party does not notify a caller ID.
Í There is no phone number data.
ö “NO SUPPORT”
Í Your cell-phone does not support the voice
recognition function.
ö “N/A VOICE TAG”
Í Your cell-phone cannot start voice recognition.
ö “PAIRING NG”
Í Pairing error.
