Turning off Haier • Roku TV speakers
When you use your Haier • Roku TV with a sound bar or an external amplier and speakers, you’ll probably want to
turn o the internal TV speakers.
To turn o the TV’s built-in speakers, in the Home screen menu, navigate to Sengs > Audio > TV speakers and
change the seng.
Tip
: The TV’s internal speakers can be enabled and disabled automacally as needed by system audio
control, as described in “Enabling system audio control” on page 59 . The internal speakers are also
turned o when you use the headphone jack
Changing the audio mode
The TV has two audio modes, accessed by navigang in the Home screen menu to Sengs >Audio > Digital audio out:
Stereo – Use this seng for internal speakers, headphones, and external stereo ampliers connected
through HDMI® ARC, SPDIF opcal, or headphone jack.
Auto – Use this seng to automacally detect the best audio seng based on the audio stream in the
content you are watching. If you have connected the TV to an external Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus
compable amplier, receiver, or sound bar through HDMI® ARC or SPDIF opcal, the TV automacally
selects the appropriate surround sound capabilies of the device based on the characteriscs of the current
program.
Setting up a digital audio connection
You can connect the TV to an external amplier, receiver, or sound bar by using either of these two connecons:
HDMI ARC – The HDMI® Audio Return Channel enables the TV to output digital audio on one of its HDMI®
connectors. The connected amplier can also funcon simultaneously as an input source to the TV, if
needed. To use the ARC capability, you must connect an HDMI® cable from your amplier’ HDMI® ARC
connector to the HDMI ARC connector on the TV. You also must:
o Be sure your HDMI® cable is cered by HDMI®.
o Select the appropriate seng under Sengs > Audio > Audio mode, as explained in “Changing
the audio mode” on page 58 .
o Enable HDMI ARC under Sengs > System > CEC, as explained in “Enabling HDMI® ARC” on page
59 .
SPDIF opcal – The TV has an SPDIF opcal connector that outputs a digital audio signal. To use the opcal
output, connect a TOSLINK opcal cable from the amplier to the Opcal or SPDIF connector on the TV. You
also must:
o Select the appropriate seng under Sengs > Audio > Audio mode, as explained in “Changing
the audio mode” on page 58 .
Note
: Dolby Digital Plus format is only output through the HDMI® ARC connecon.
Aer making the required HDMI® ARC or SPDIF opcal connecon, go to Sengs > Audio > S/PDIF and ARC opon and
